The dragons and I have gotten a rousing welcome to Minnesota by being at the local Barnes and Noble in Maple Grove which is a suburb of the Twin Cities (and where my grandchildren, the REAL Jaxon and Allie – the kid stars of the dragon book, live…..). We’ve been part of 6 bookfairs that B&N hosts in conjunction with the PTOs (Parent Teacher Organization) of local elementary schools. B&N donates a certain percentage of the sales during the bookfair to the PTO so it’s a win-win for everybody.
And we’ve been mentioned in Reading Minnesota - a great blog for Minnesota authors and small publishers!
I’ve been the author and artist in residence during the bookfairs, dragon puppets in hand, signing books and talking to kids and adults. A high point with the kids is getting to paint with water on the vanishing image paper. I’ve had lots of fun teaching them some simple sumi-e brush technique. And a high point for me was having the REAL Jaxon and Allie be present during their schools bookfair, complete with dragon t-shirts from the Dragonfires CafePress store! They competed very well with the Star Wars characters wandering around the store. The action is really hot as the pictures show!
And if you’re still looking for great holiday gifts check out the store page at nwdragons.com – books, art, notecards, mugs, t-shirts and more…..!
