Aeris was frustrated. Not because she was an air dragon and therefore couldn’t breathe fire, and not because she was teased for it. She wasn’t mad about the fire dragons calling her airhead, stupid storm, and feather freak. Nope.

Aeris was angry because she was starting to believe them.

Jaxon was sitting by the fire one winter evening, dreaming of last summer’s camping trip on Shi Shi Beach and meeting up with the dragons. Suddenly he heard a loud CRACK! He raced to the window and looked up. A strange light was moving in the sky. Jaxon searched the trees, then peered down at a shape in the grass. It was an egg, slightly larger than a soccer ball, with a lengthwise crack in it. He watched, spellbound, as more cracks sounded and the opening in the egg got bigger and bigger. What could be hatching from an egg of this size? And how had it ended up in his yard?
